Be Prepared

Dentists don’t just start drilling or filling a persons tooth.  They have a plan. They prepare.
 
Contactors don’t just start digging and building. They have a plan.  They prepare.  

Networking is the same.  Showing up at an event does not make a person a competent networker.  You must have a plan and be prepared.

Plan to meet 3 – 5 new people.  Don’t leave until you do.  Plan to arrange a follow up meeting.  Plan to make introductions.  If you can, plan to know who you want to meet.

Prepare by knowing your message.  Prepare by knowing the questions you will ask.  Prepare by bringing enough business cards.  Prepare by googling the person you want to meet.
